Susan Stos – Founder of APPLY Ethics

Susan Stos is an ethics specialist and journalist. She believes that ethics is essential to any aspect of life and business, and to that end she has developed a unique process for making ethical decisions when facing a moral dilemma. This programme, APPLY Ethics, has been used to great effect in many secondary schools and in business. It is a program that works regardless of culture or religion.
Susan’s interest in ethics was piqued while doing her Master’s thesis in journalism ethics, and since then she has taken many online courses on philosophy and ethics from some of the most prominent international universities.
Susan has contributed to academic textbooks on the subject, and has written for the Neilson Journal for Business Ethics Education. She has lectured postgrad students at both the University of the Witwatersrand and the University of Johannesburg.
Most recently she presented a module on journalism ethics for the Wits MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) on edX. She also speaks about ethics to the general public, schools, parents, businesses and for professional development.
Susan has written for various publications and was executive producer of Carte Blanche Africa, as well as the first producer/director of Carte Blanche. Her career began in educational publishing in Canada, and later at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
